About the Founder
My name is Laurie Klein and I am an artist specializing in hand crafted jewelry. I create every piece as an individual work of art. I combine my passion for stone, the mechanics of metal working and the time honored artisan-ship of jewelry design. I have been employed as a professional artist for most of my adult life, and while the mediums may change, at the core, it is still all about one thing: creative expression is a way of life.
I was born an artist. I was oil painting at the age of 8, studying jewelry design by the age of 17, and employed as a professional artist by the age of 18. I was a fine art major in college with a minor in jewelry design. I had my first jewelry piece win at a juried show when I was in my first year studying jewelry design.
A near fatal car accident ended my college career in fine art, and when I returned to school my focus was on graphic art and design. During that time I made a living as a freelance illustrator and worked for a well-known art store in San Diego where I did seminars on painting in acrylics as well.
After college I eventually found my home as an artist at a leading aviation industry manufacturer. While working there I did work for Amblin Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox, Belasarius Productions, Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, United Airlines, Boeing, Lockheed, Bell Helicopters, NASA and many more. I have work in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and have had artwork go into space.
After a hiatus in the jewelry world I picked it back up in 2004. It has become my absolute passion once again and hopefully you will see how much I admire the medium as a true art form.
I am proud to have founded Front Range Studio.
